Violence and Youth Empowerment

According to the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting Program, Chicago is the 9th highest city of homicide rates with 24.1 murders per 100,000 residents. Chicago’s Crime index is higher than 94% of U.S Cities. 53%, of adults in Chicago, are literate which is more than four times higher than the national average. The graduation rate is 71% for black students and 63% for black males in Chicago. This is the reason we want to instill into the youth that there are other routes to steer away from crime like getting an education or having a creative outlet to blow of steam. Doing this, we hope to create a domino effect that will impact the youth to share with others and lower the crime rates to create a more conducive and friendly environment for the residents of Chicago.
