Howard University Freedom School

"Something inside so strong!" The Howard University Freedom School is a six-week summer reading enrichment program geared towards building strong, literate, and empowered children.

The Freedom School serves approximately 80 middle-school aged "Scholars" from Howard University Middle School and the surrounding community.

The Howard University Freedom School will operate Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Scholar families will be responsible for providing transportation each day. The daily program typically consists of breakfast and “Harambee,” a large group gathering, which will include special guest readers from Howard University and the local community.

Lunch and an afternoon snack will be provided daily and local field trips that adhere to established middle school guidelines will be part of the program.
