Bison Holiday Give Back

Howard University is Sharing Every Holiday Season!

Bison Holiday Give Back, formerly known as the Howard University Angel Tree Project, is an impactful campus-wide service-learning project organized by the Howard University Chapel Assistants. Its purpose is to bring joy to hundreds of children, affectionately referred to as "Bison Babies," in the Washington, DC area during the holiday season by granting their requested gifts.

To identify children in need, we collaborate with partnering schools, community centers, and detention centers. They help us compile lists of desired gifts from the children, and then the Howard University student body, faculty, staff, and community members generously donate these requested items to fulfill their wishes. Additionally, Bison Holiday Give Back hosts an annual toy drive, channeling extra donations to hospitals, shelters, and other valued partners.

For more than two decades, Bison Holiday Give Back has actively embraced and exemplified the Howard University motto of "Truth and Service," as well as the Office of the Dean of the Chapel's mission of "Faith · Service · Justice." Throughout this time, the program has remained steadfast in its commitment to promoting these principles, fostering a spirit of giving, and making a positive impact in the lives of others during the holiday season.
