Community Development and Youth Empowerment

St. Louis, Missouri, is not only home to the iconic Gateway Arch but is also distinguished by its rich cultural heritage and renowned barbecue cuisine. This year, Howard University Alternative Spring Break program is pleased to announce its return, with a dedicated focus on community development and youth empowerment. In collaboration with local schools, after-school programs, and community organizations, we are committed to effecting positive change and enhancing the welfare of the St. Louis community through purposeful service.

During our engagement in St. Louis, we will provide essential support to students through interactive classroom activities, tailored tutoring, and comprehensive college readiness programs. This approach ensures that they possess the necessary resources and encouragement to achieve academic success. Our community-centric initiatives will include maintaining school and neighborhood gardens, participating in environmental cleanup efforts, preparing and serving meals, organizing food pantries, and sorting donations for distribution among various community organizations.

Our objective is to contribute to sustainable, positive change while fostering connections that empower individuals and strengthen the overall St. Louis community. We invite you to join us in this noble endeavor to inspire hope and create a brighter future.
